Production Setup & Industrialization Expert (m/f/d) – Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing

For a leading industrial client in the commercial vehicle sector, we are looking for experienced freelance experts to support the build-up of a discrete manufacturing line – from construction supervision through to the start of production.

Remote/On-Site: USA
Utilization: Full-time
Language: English (Native Speakers welcome)

YOUR CHALLENGE

• Supervise and coordinate the construction and setup of production facilities for discrete commercial vehicle manufacturing
• Define and optimize material flows across the production line – from goods receipt through to final assembly
• Design and implement automation solutions for manufacturing and assembly processes
• Develop and document production processes including cycle time planning, line balancing, and capacity planning
• Coordinate with construction contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Support the commissioning of production equipment and ensure process capability
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for production ramp-up (launch management)
• Drive the integration of conveyor systems, robotics, and other automation components
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards throughout the build-up phase
• Prepare and execute Run@Rate and production sign-off milestones

YOUR TALENTS

• Several years of experience in setting up or industrializing manufacturing lines, ideally in the commercial vehicle or automotive industry
• Strong expertise in material flow planning and layout design (e.g., using Visio, AutoCAD, or Plant Simulation)
• Proven knowledge in automation technology – robotics, PLC controls, conveyor systems
• Hands-on experience in construction supervision of industrial production facilities (greenfield/brownfield)
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, value stream mapping, and continuous process improvement
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools
• Experience with production launch management and SOP processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels
• Fluent English skills required (Native Speakers expressly welcome)
• Willingness to travel and strong on-site presence
